Some patients may require scripts or blood test forms outside of appointments and these may be need to be faxed or emailed to the pharmacy or pathology company or we can escript you the script or blood test. A processing fee applies for handling script enquiries.

Dr Margaret Oziemski Dermatologist has been in practice at Morris Towers since moving with her family from Melbourne.
She participates in the Australasian College of Dermatologists continuing professional development programme and attends symposia and Clinical meetings to continue to update her knowledge of Dermatological advances. Dr Oziemski has recently undertaken a self funded study into portable beach shelters which has implications for primary prevention of skin cancer and melanoma and you may wish to read about it further in the sections below.

We appreciate if you update us on any changes in your details such as your address of change in phone number when you re-visit for easier contact and communication.

VITAMIN D
It is important if you are sunprotecting or are in isolation due to illness and not able to be in the sun due to limitations in your environment or access to foods containing vitamin D, that you maintain adequate vitamin D for your bone health. VITAMIN D
It is important if you are sunprotecting or are in isolation due to illness and not able to be in the sun due to limitations in your environment or access to foods containing vitamin D, that you maintain adequate vitamin D for your bone health. Supplements may be neccessary to maintain adequate levels and if you have had a skin cancer, it would not be advisable to reach adequate levels by getting "safe sun". You can discuss this with Dr Oziemski via telehealth or at your consultation methods.
VITAMIN B3
New research also regarding vitamin B3 tablets or cream and prevention of skin cancer is discussed when appropriate to your condition.
MONITORING OF MOLES AND LESIONS
If Dr Oziemski has taken pictures of any moles or lesions it maybe possible for you to take a picture and email that if you notice changes between your appointments.. Dr Oziemski may then discuss further management with you via the telephone or video link, depending on what you are capable of using, if you are unable to come into the office. It is however preferred to see changing pigmented lesions in a face -to-face consultation because other instruments may be needed to magnify the lesion as well as to perhaps collect a sample or a biopsy of the lesion.
SUNPROTECTION AND SUN SAFETY
And if you do have a yard and access to the outdoors, remember we do live in Queensland and sun protection may be very important for you to maintain all year round.
PORTABLE BEACH SHELTERS
It is especially important when using a portable beach shelter that you use additional sunprotection measures and do not rely on the promise the fabric blocks out the UV as the canopy is far above you and ultraviolet radiation is reflected from the surrounding environment to reach under the canopy. The angle of the sun moves and in some times of the day the shade is actually outside the canopy but still even sitting in that shaded part of sand you are subjected to reflected UV from the rest of the sand around you. If you are able to have a protable beach shelter where you place a wall or walls, dynamically , to reduce the UV reflected and diffusing in from the sides that can dramatically reduce the UV but you should still use additional sunprotection, especially if using the portable beach shelter to prolong your time outdoors, even in " low UV" sun. There is emerging evidence that UV damage is cummulative so even long periods in low UV can contribute to DNA damage.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DERMATOLOGY
It is a fast evolving field at this time and understanding how an AI-based software system has been created, where the data is stored, how the system is trained and validated are all important to our acceptance of these systems at the bedside. Especially if such systems are being used in making clinical decisions. Dr Oziemski currently is using the clinical standard for pigmented lesions which is a hand held dermatoscope and image capture of pigmented lesions which may be used for recording in the clinical file but the decision is made by discussing the findings with you at your face to face consultation, not by an AI alograrithm.

Sometimes Dr Oziemski may ask you to email in photos of a lesion of concern or rash and discuss that with you via phone or video. However due to Changes in Telehealth item numbers, there may be a fee for communicating in this way if there is no valid referral.
It may be necessary to take a small skin sample or skin scraping and and a face to face consultation may need to also be arranged with Dr.
Sometimes removal of the mole or spot is needed and Dr Oziemski will discuss with you the best method to do so and provide you with an estimate of out of pocket costs if the procedure is done by Dr Oziemski. However you may wish to be referred to a Plastic Surgeon and Dr Oziemski will assist in providing you with a referral to allow the removal in a timely manner with the Surgeon or your general practitioner.

Many of the chronic skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis still require care and prescriptions may need to be filled. The video or phone consultation option may be perfectly suitable for communicating with Dr Oziemski in some cases but a face to face consult is optimal.

If you need a script outside of the consultation we may be able to fax or email a script to the chemist you usually use, however if we have not seen you for a while, Dr Oziemski would like to take a moment to talk to you and may need to ring you back if your enquiry is during her consultation with another patient.
Arranging scripts outside of appointments may incur a processing fee.
