MONITORING OF MOLES AND LESIONS
If Dr Oziemski has taken pictures of any moles or lesions it maybe possible for you to take a picture and email that . Dr Oziemski may then discuss further management with you via the telephone or video link, depending on what you are capable of using, if you are unable to come into the office. It is however preferred to see changing pigmented lesions in a face -to-face consultation because other instruments may be needed to magnify the lesion as well as to perhaps collect a sample or a biopsy of the lesion.
SUNPROTECTION AND SUN SAFETY
And if you do have a yard and access to the outdoors, remember we do live in Queensland and sun protection may be very important for you to maintain all year round.

We offer diagnostics for many acute conditions such as hand dermatitis which may be more common now we are all washing our hands more often or using hand sanitisers and rashes like eczema and psoriasis, which may worsen with being indoors.
Any new or changing skin lesions or ones growing rapidly should be brought to the attention of Doctor. We may ask you to see your General Practitioner, if there is no referral for that problem on file, who could then fax an urgent request that Doctor Oziemski see you.
Sometimes Dr Oziemski may ask you to email in photos of the lesion of concern or rash and discuss that with you via phone or video. However due to Changes in Telehealth item numbers, there may be a fee for communicating in this way if there is no valid referral. However it may be necessary to take a small skin sample or skin scraping and and a face to face consultation may need to also be arranged with Dr.
Sometimes removal of the mole or spot is needed and Dr Oziemski will discuss with you the best method to do so and provide you with a estimate of out of pocket costs if the procedure is done by Dr Oziemski. However you may wish to be referred to a Plastic Surgeon and Dr Oziemski will assist in providing you with a referral to allow the removal in a timely manner with the Surgeon or your general practitioner.
Many of the chronic skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis still require care and prescriptions may need to be filled. The video or phone consultation option may be perfectly suitable for communicating with Dr Oziemski in some cases.

We may ask that you email us 3- 4 photos of your condition so Dr Oziemski can assess the severity and extent as well as discuss via video link options for the ongoing management.
However consultations in rooms are still the best way to assess the extent and allow a thorough examination of parts unable to be seen with a phone consult.
Face to face consults are conducted with PPE in place.
If you need a script outside of the consultation we may be able to fax or email a script to the chemist you usually use, however if we have not seen you for a while, Dr Oziemski would like to take a moment to talk to you and may need to ring you back if your enquiry is during her consultation with another patient.
Arranging scripts outside of appointments may incur a processing fee.

In a condition like acne often many over the counter creams have been tried before getting to the doctor or specialist for a prescription. There is also available a medication only prescribed by the Dermatologist which is oral Isotretinoin and it needs monitoring with review visits and blood tests. We therefore have the facility to undertake teleconsults for acne management and these attract a Medicare rebate, just the same as coming in person to the rooms, if you have a valid referral.
We may ask you to email a photo of your face showing the extent of the acne and set up a teleconsult appointment with you if you contact the office with your referral. This may save you having to come into the office and save parking also.
